Cuphead is an action, platformer and shooter video game developed and released by independent Canadian studio StudioMDHR in 2017. The game was created with a focus on boss battles, and its visual style is inspired by traditional drawn animation and watercolor backgrounds. The game's story is set in the fictional universe of the Ink Islands, where protagonist Caphead and his brother Magman break the covenants of an elder and go to the Devil's Casino. There they play dice and win, but then put their souls on the line to get all the casino's money. After losing, the heroes make a deal with the Devil, according to which they must obtain the souls of the debtors by midnight the next day in order to save their own.
