While you're surrounded by the first waves of sluggish enemies, you'll need to collect biofuel to upgrade your weapons and defenses before the real crazy creatures show up. Each time the Gathering Meter fills up, you'll have three modifications to choose from:

• Throwing weapons (bricks, Molotov cocktails, grenades);
• Barrels and bullets (buckshot, burst projectile);
• Defense field (flying drones, damage-absorbing bubble).

And the hero will be a bit stronger and more survivable. With 5-6 of these upgrades, you can charge into the thick of things and make a bloody mess. Saw the enemy, cut him, blow him up with dynamite, set him on fire, and trample him until new, stronger ones come to take their place. And after them, the bosses!
